Cedar Key Scrub State Reserve spans over 5,000 acres six miles northeast of Cedar Key in Levy County, Florida, USA, protecting rare Florida scrub habitats on ancient dune ridges alongside salt marshes, pine flatwoods, coastal hammocks, and tidal creeks that shelter the endangered Florida scrub-jay, gopher tortoises, Florida mice, and bald eagles.
Acquired starting in 1978 through Conservation and Recreation Lands funding, it preserves one of the state's northernmost scrub ecosystems critical for water quality in nearby estuaries and offers nearly 13 miles of multiuse trails from two trailheads on State Road 24 and Levy County Road 347 for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
Open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset with free access and vault toilets, visitors can paddle adjacent tidal marshes launched from nearby Cedar Key ramps for fishing and wildlife viewing, though trails were closed as of late 2024 due to Hurricane Helene damage.
