Park
Columbia Plateau Trail State Park stretches 130 miles across eastern Washington along an abandoned 1908 Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway corridor from near Cheney at Fish Lake to Ice Harbor Dam by the Snake and Columbia Rivers, showcasing channeled scablands carved by massive Ice Age floods and ancient basalt flows.
This 3,876-acre linear park offers a mix of paved paths for the first 3.75 miles ideal for families, inline skating and biking, plus 19.25 miles of crushed rock for hiking, equestrian use and wildlife viewing through shrub-steppe terrain and Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge with over 200 bird species.
Developed sections total about 38 miles with interpretive signs on geology and history, attracting adventurers to its remote, scenic uplands across five counties.
