Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park, Florida, United States

Park

Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park spans 6,000 acres south of Tallahassee in Wakulla County, Florida, USA, as a National Natural Landmark featuring one of the world's largest and deepest freshwater springs that pumps millions of gallons of crystal-clear 70°F water daily into the Wakulla River.

Named for industrialist Edward Ball who developed it in the 1930s with a Spanish-style lodge used in films like Creature from the Black Lagoon, the park preserves ancient cypress swamps, pine forests, and karst features with Ice Age mastodon fossils and Native American history.

Visitors swim from a diving platform, take narrated riverboat tours spotting manatees, alligators, turtles, and birds, hike 3 miles of nature trails through hardwood hammocks, explore the historic lodge with period decor, picnic, and camp, open daily from 8 a.m. to sundown.
