Opened around 1970, it offers boating, water skiing, swimming, and fishing for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish, plus an 18-hole championship golf course called Hidden Cove that winds through trees around the lake.
Visitors enjoy a 71-site campground with water and electric hookups, hiking trails like Beech Hemlock Forest featuring rhododendron and unique rock formations such as Lizard Head Rock, kayaking to Grotto Falls, playgrounds, a marina with rentals, and seasonal bald eagle sightings.
