Greenwich Audubon Center

Greenwich Audubon Center, Connecticut, United States

Nature Reserve

The Greenwich Audubon Center in Connecticut, established in 1943, was the National Audubon Society's first environmental education center, created on land donated by Eleanor Clovis Reese and H. Hall Clovis.

The 295-acre sanctuary features about seven miles of trails through diverse ecosystems including hardwood forests, old fields, lakes, streams, and vernal ponds. The property preserves remnants of early New England life such as stone walkways, an old apple orchard, and historic homestead buildings.

The Kimberlin Nature Education Center on site provides interactive exhibits, classrooms, and a nature art gallery, making it a hub for hands-on learning and wildlife observation including a honeybee hive exhibit and bird feeding station. The surrounding sanctuaries managed by Audubon Greenwich cover a total of 686 acres with 15 miles of trails, offering habitats for various wildlife like river otters, wood ducks, coyotes, and many bird species

The center frequently renovates historic buildings such as the Mead House from 1746 and maintains an active role in conservation, education, and community engagement in the Greenwich area.
