Park
James M. Robb – Colorado River State Park is an 890‑acre Colorado state park along the Colorado River in Mesa County near Grand Junction, originally opened in 1994 as Colorado River State Park and renamed in 2005 to honor James M. Robb, a civic leader and parks advocate.
The park is made up of five separate sections stretching from DeBeque Canyon through Corn Lake, Connected Lakes, and the Colorado River Wildlife Area down to the Fruita area, strung along the river like a “string of pearls.” Each section offers access to the Colorado River for fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing, with designated swimming beaches, boat ramps, and picnicking areas, and Island Acres and Fruita provide campgrounds with year‑round sites while the others are mainly day‑use.
The park also lies within a developing 35‑mile riverside trail system that links the sections and connects surrounding communities, making it a continuous corridor for hiking, biking, and enjoying the river landscape near the Colorado National Monument and Grand Mesa.
