Developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps with stone shelters, trails, and two lakes, it includes the Audubon Museum showcasing his artwork, artifacts, and life story, plus a state nature preserve protecting old-growth forests and wetlands expanded by 650 acres in 2016.
Visitors enjoy a nine-hole golf course, 69-site campground, six cottages, pedal boat rentals on a 28-acre fishing lake, 6.5 miles of hiking trails, tennis courts, picnic areas, playgrounds, and birdwatching spots.
