State Park
Kent Falls State Park in Kent, Connecticut, covers about 295 acres and features a stunning series of waterfalls that cascade over 250 feet along Falls Brook, a tributary of the Housatonic River.
The tallest single drop is around 70 feet into a reflective pool, with smaller cascades continuing downstream. The area was originally called Scatacook by Native Americans who fished and camped there, and evidence of their long presence remains. The park land was donated in 1919 by philanthropist Alain C. White through the White Memorial Foundation, with further development and trail restoration done in the 1930s by the Civil Works Administration and later by youth conservation groups.
Visitors can enjoy walking trails, a covered bridge built in 1974, picnic areas, and the natural beauty of mixed hardwood forests, gneiss rock formations, and vibrant seasonal foliage. Kent Falls offers both historical significance and a serene outdoor experience that draws hikers, families, and nature lovers year-round.
