Established in 1966 through a lease with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it offers 22 lake-view cabins (some with fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs), 72 RV sites, 82 primitive tent campsites, comfort stations with showers, a community center, picnic shelters, playgrounds, lighted boat ramps, a fitness trail, and Pier 51 Marina with boat rentals, a seasonal restaurant, and store.
Popular for striped bass, walleye, black bass, crappie, and catfish fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming beaches, and hiking, it serves as an urban escape amid wooded hills and sandy shores near historic sites like old Fort Arbuckle.
