It features over a mile of saltwater shoreline with stunning views of the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound sunsets, and nearby Cutts Island, accessible by boat, while offering family-friendly activities like swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and easy 2-mile forested hiking trails through bigleaf maple and cedar with minimal elevation gain.
The park, whose name comes from Chinook Jargon meaning "at the water," underwent an $8.6 million renovation completed in August 2025, transforming it into a fully ADA-accessible destination with a welcome center, multipurpose event facility, amphitheater, playground made from salvaged wood, 16 covered picnic shelters, and 76 picnic tables. At low tide, the rocky beach flattens into sandy areas ideal for exploration, and the surrounding forest showcases ferns, salmonberries, and diverse flora year-round.
