Lake Kissimmee State Park spans nearly 6,000 acres north of State Road 60 and 15 miles east of Lake Wales in Polk County, Florida, encompassing diverse habitats like floodplain marshes, flatwoods, prairies, hardwood hammocks, and the shores of Lakes Kissimmee, Tiger, and Rosalie that support over 50 threatened or endangered species including Florida scrub-jays, bald eagles, snail kites, whooping cranes, bobcats, gray foxes, wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, sandhill cranes, and otters.

Established to preserve this rich ecosystem, it features living history demonstrations at an 1876-era Cracker cow camp highlighting early Florida cattle hunters, with visitors enjoying boating, canoeing, kayaking along the 10-mile Buster Island Paddling Trail, fishing, 13 miles of hiking and biking trails, six miles of equestrian paths, shaded picnicking, full-facility and primitive camping plus youth group sites, and exceptional birdwatching among 200 species amid dark skies perfect for stargazing.
