Park
Larrabee State Park, Washington's first state park established in 1915, covers 2,748 acres on Samish Bay along Chuckanut Mountain near Bellingham in Whatcom County, offering 8,100 feet of saltwater shoreline with tide pools, sandstone cliffs, and views of the San Juan Islands.
Donated by the Larrabee family, it blends coastal beaches for clamming, swimming, and boating with 18 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and access to freshwater Fragrance and Lost Lakes ideal for bass and trout fishing. The park provides 86 campsites including RV utility spots, picnic areas, and year-round recreation along scenic Chuckanut Drive, featuring a new Clayton Beach Trail with a pedestrian bridge over railroad tracks.
