Park
Lory State Park is a roughly 2,500‑acre Colorado state park in the foothills of the northern Front Range, just west of Fort Collins and bordering the east side of Horsetooth Reservoir.
The park offers more than 25 miles of rolling, mostly gentle trails that are popular for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, along with limited hunting during legal seasons. It features open grasslands, piñon‑juniper and ponderosa‑pine woodlands, and the sandstone ridges of the Horsetooth hogbacks, with lookouts such as Arthur’s Rock providing sweeping views of the reservoir, the plains, and the distant mountains.
Visitors can enjoy picnicking, wildlife watching (including deer, turkey, and a wide variety of birds), and backcountry camping, and the park also includes a small mountain‑bike park with dirt jumps and a pump track, making it a busy, family‑friendly outdoor hub near the city.
