Transferred to Ohio's Department of Natural Resources in 1949, it showcases second-growth beech-maple forests reminiscent of pioneer-era Ohio, spring wildflowers like trillium and bloodroot, and wildlife including deer, raccoons, skunks, wood thrushes, and nuthatches.
Visitors enjoy electric-motor boating, paddlecraft, fishing, hiking trails, picnicking, a year-round campground with 59 electric and full-hookup sites amid pines, ice skating, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing in a quiet natural haven.
