Waterfall
Mystic Falls is a 70-foot cascading waterfall located in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, on the Little Firehole River.
Originally named Little Firehole Falls, it was renamed Mystic Falls in 1885. The waterfall can be reached via the moderate 1.2-mile Mystic Falls Trail, which starts at Biscuit Basin in the Upper Geyser Basin, about 3 miles north of Old Faithful. The trail passes through scenic forest and canyon areas offering several viewpoints of the falls, which cascade over multiple tiers into a boulder-filled canyon.
The hike forms a loop of around 2.4 miles with some elevation gain and is best visited from late spring through early fall when the trail is clear of snow. Visitors are advised to be cautious of wildlife, practice safety while on the trail, and wear appropriate footwear, especially as the trail can be slippery after rain or snow.
Mystic Falls offers a peaceful, beautiful setting within Yellowstone's iconic geothermal landscape.
