Park
Ochlockonee River State Park spans 543 acres in two parcels along the Ochlockonee River in Wakulla County, Florida, south of Sopchoppy, surrounded by Apalachicola National Forest and St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge.
This pristine park at the river's confluence with the Dead River features longleaf pine flatwoods, oak thickets, and brackish waters teeming with largemouth bass, bream, catfish, speckled perch, and saltwater species, while hosting endangered red-cockaded woodpeckers, gopher tortoises, black bears, bald eagles, and diverse birds.
Visitors enjoy canoeing and boating from a ramp, fishing, swimming near the river junction, hiking shaded nature trails, picnicking at tables and pavilions with grills, primitive camping, ranger-led summer walks and campfires, and birdwatching in this peaceful Real Florida retreat open daily from 8 a.m. to sundown for a $4 vehicle fee.
