Covering 14.26 acres and featuring nearly 700 rooms, City Hall was constructed over 30 years using brick, white marble, and limestone.
The exterior is ornately decorated with over 250 sculptures by Alexander Milne Calder, representing historical figures, allegories, and animals. Situated on what was once Centre Square—later renamed Penn Square—it serves as the seat of government and a symbol of Philadelphia’s industrial might and cultural heritage.
