Robinson State Park, Massachusetts, United States

Park

Robinson State Park is a narrow 1,025-acre public recreation area primarily in Agawam, with a small portion in Westfield, Massachusetts, following the meandering Westfield River along its northern border.

Established through land donations by Springfield businessman John C. Robinson in 1934 and 1937 to preserve recreational open space, it features over 20 miles of trails and paved roads for hiking, cycling, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, canoeing, and fishing amid diverse terrain hosting rare wildflowers, dragonflies, turtles, fisher cats, otters, beavers, deer, coyotes, bears, egrets, bald eagles, owls, and moose.

Managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, it includes picnic areas, a pavilion, athletic fields, historic Civilian Conservation Corps buildings, and a challenging 5K cross-country course used by Agawam High School, though the swimming area closed permanently in 2024 due to water quality issues.
