Built around a 1,590-foot-long, 135-foot-high dam completed between 1955 and 1961 for flood control, it offers a lodge with 40 rooms and balconies overlooking the water, 17 cozy two-bedroom cottages, seasonal camping with electric sites, and Grayson's Landing restaurant serving local cuisine.
Guests enjoy prime fishing for bass, crappie, catfish, and bluegill; boating with marina slips, pontoon rentals, and launch ramps; a sandy swimming beach, hiking on the 1-mile Lake Ridge Nature Trail for birdwatching bald eagles; an 18-hole disc golf course, mini-golf, playground, basketball, tennis, and winter activities amid rolling hills and meadows.
