Developed largely by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the park's dense oak-hickory forests, spring wildflowers, playground, basketball courts, and horseshoe pits provide a peaceful retreat reminiscent of the southern Appalachians, with portions of the Buckeye Trail passing through.
