Silver Slipper

Silver Slipper, Nevada, United States

Casino

Silver Slipper was a small, historic casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada, opening on September 1, 1950, as part of the Last Frontier Village themed attraction north of the Last Frontier Hotel with a western vibe and iconic rotating neon slipper sign. It faced early challenges including a 1964 shutdown for cheating with flat dice, multiple leases and owners like Howard Hughes who bought it in 1968 partly due to the sign's light bothering him at the Desert Inn, and expansions in the 1960s before closing permanently on November 22, 1989, under Margaret Elardi's ownership. The site was demolished in 1993 for Frontier parking and its famous sign now resides at the Neon Museum, marking it as one of Vegas' early casualties to mega-resort growth.
