Casino/Resort
Stardust Resort and Casino was an iconic outer space-themed property on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada, opening on July 2, 1958, after developer Tony Cornero's death halted construction until his brother and investors like Rella Factor completed it as the world's largest hotel with 1,065 rooms across motel wings. It pioneered Strip innovations like an RV park in 1972, expanded with a nine-story tower in 1964 and 32-story high-rise in 1990 under Boyd Gaming ownership from 1985, featuring an 85,000-square-foot casino, convention space from the adjacent Royal Nevada site, and legendary entertainment that drew celebrities amid mob skimming scandals inspiring the film Casino. The resort closed November 1, 2006, for redevelopment and was imploded March 13, 2007, with the site now occupied by Resorts World Las Vegas.
