Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont is a historic resort founded in 1950 by the Trapp Family Singers, Austrian refugees who fled their homeland during World War II. Located in Stowe on a sprawling 2,600-acre estate reminiscent of their native Austrian Alps, the lodge blends rustic Alpine charm with modern resort comforts.
After a devastating fire in 1980 destroyed the original 27-room lodge, a larger 96-room Austrian-style lodge was built and opened in 1983. The resort offers year-round activities including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking, hiking, tennis, and yoga. Guests enjoy European-inspired accommodations with mountain views, multiple dining options, a spa, and a brewery.
