Walker River State Recreation Area is a large Nevada park of about 12,300 acres along roughly 30 miles of the East Walker River, located just southeast of the town of Yerington in Lyon County.
The area was created in 2018 when nonprofit groups donated historic ranch lands and river frontage to the state, opening a stretch that had been privately held for more than a century to public recreation and conservation. The park includes several former ranch units such as Pitchfork Ranch, Rafter 7 Ranch, and Flying M Ranch, offering camping, fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and some OHV and horse‑trail use, centered on a scenic river corridor flanked by open rangeland and mountain views.
