Park
Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site is a coastal state park in Newport, Lincoln County, Oregon, USA, at the north end of Yaquina Bay near its Pacific Ocean outlet, established in 1948 and administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.
The spruce and pine forested bluff features picnic facilities, trails to a sandy beach along the north jetty, a large deck with panoramic views of Yaquina Bay and the iconic Yaquina Bay Bridge, and the historic 1871 Yaquina Bay Lighthouse—the state's only surviving wooden lighthouse with attached living quarters—restored and open to visitors after serving as a Coast Guard lifeboat station.
Donated by the U.S. Lighthouse Service in 1934 and 1971 with development by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, it offers free day-use access for birdwatching, wildlife viewing, and scenic overlooks near attractions like the Hatfield Marine Science Center and Oregon Coast Aquarium, including a fisherman's memorial shrine.
