Park
Coquille Myrtle Grove State Natural Site is a serene 7-acre day-use state park in Coos County, southwestern Oregon, USA, along Oregon Route 542 between Myrtle Point and Powers near the South Fork Coquille River.
Donated in 1950 by Save the Myrtlewoods to protect rare old-growth Oregon myrtlewood trees—evergreen hardwoods over 200 years old used for furniture and bowls—it features shaded picnic tables amid lush greenery, a short trail to a sandy/gravel river beach with a swimming hole, rope swing, and gentle currents ideal for summer tubing, wading, and rockhounding agates, quartz, or jasper.
Vault toilets are available but no drinking water, offering quiet fishing, birdwatching, and occasional flooding in rainy seasons within this low-traffic natural haven.
