Theme Park
Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, began in the 1920s as a roadside berry stand founded by Walter and Cordelia Knott, who sold berries, preserves, and pies.
In the 1930s, to help sustain their business during the Great Depression, Cordelia started serving fried chicken dinners, which grew popular and led to a restaurant and berry market known as Knott’s Berry Place. To keep waiting customers entertained, Walter built a replica Ghost Town in the 1940s, initiating the park’s shift toward an amusement park. Over the following decades, rides, shops, and live shows were added, officially naming the site Knott’s Berry Farm in 1947.
It has since expanded to feature roller coasters, family rides, themed areas like the Old West, early Spanish California, and continues to attract millions of visitors annually. The park also includes seasonal events and an on-site hotel, making it a prominent Southern California family destination.
