Museum
The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum in Detroit, Michigan, is the historic birthplace of the Ford Model T and one of the most important automotive heritage sites in the world.
Built in 1904 by Henry Ford, the plant is a three-story brick building designed in a late Victorian industrial style with fire safety features uncommon for its time. It was Ford's second factory and the site where the company designed and assembled its early cars, including over 12,000 Model Ts before production moved to the Highland Park Plant. Now a museum since 2001, it houses more than 65 rare automobiles, including Ford's early letter cars and competitors' models, along with photographs, film, and exhibits showing the beginnings of Detroit’s auto industry.
Visitors can explore the original factory floors, Henry Ford's office, and the secret Experimental Room where the Model T was developed. Recognized as a National Historic Landmark, the museum offers tours that bring to life the industrial, cultural, and social history of early automotive manufacturing and innovation, preserving a key chapter of the Motor City’s legacy.
