Park
George T. Bagby State Park in southwest Georgia, USA, near Fort Gaines, covers about 700 acres along the shores of 45,000-acre Lake Walter F. George (also called Lake Eufaula), a reservoir on the Chattahoochee River known for trophy fishing including the state record blue catfish.
Named for George T. Bagby, a longtime Georgia conservation leader who served in politics, as Director of State Parks, and in the Department of Natural Resources until 1976, the park offers a 60-room lodge with restaurant and conference center, five cottages, tennis courts, and the 18-hole Meadow Links Golf Course.
Guests access the lake via marina, boat ramps, and swimming beach for boating and bass fishing, hike a three-mile nature trail spotting alligators, deer, otters, eagles, and gopher tortoises, and enjoy shaded picnic sites amid abundant wildlife.
