Memorial Park
The Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial in Boise is a unique educational park dedicated to honoring Anne Frank's enduring legacy and promoting peace, tolerance, and human rights.
Opened in 2002 by the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, the memorial features a life-sized bronze statue of Anne Frank looking out from an open window, surrounded by 180 feet of quotes from various historical figures focusing on justice and equality. It includes the full text of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights displayed publicly, a Rose Beal Legacy Garden honoring a local Holocaust survivor, and a sapling from the original Anne Frank Chestnut Tree in Amsterdam.
The site also has a classroom for human rights education and uses modern technology to present Idaho's human rights history. Funded by community donations and volunteers, it serves as a contemplative space encouraging visitors to reflect on past injustices and inspire action for social progress, welcoming over 100,000 visitors annually and recognized globally as a “Site of Conscience”.
