Park
Lewis and Clark State Park spans 525 acres in Williams County, North Dakota, along the shores of Lake Sakakawea where Gamache Creek flows in, about 18 miles east of Williston.
Named for explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark who camped nearby on April 17, 1805, it features dramatic buttes, rolling hills, mixed-grass prairie, and a self-guided nature trail highlighting unique geology, wildlife like deer and pheasants, and rare fish species such as pallid sturgeon.
Visitors enjoy boating from a marina with slip rentals and ramps, excellent fishing for walleye, sauger, and northern pike, swimming at a beach, camping, picnicking, kayaking rentals, birdwatching, and hiking amid year-round recreation.
