Beach
Malibu Lagoon State Beach (also called Surfrider Beach) sits where Malibu Creek meets the Pacific, forming a coastal lagoon and one of Southern California’s most famous right‑breaking surf spots.
The park protects roughly 40–45 acres of wetlands and sandy shore that support more than 200 bird species and was restored with native marsh plants to improve habitat while offering easy walking trails, interpretive signs and birdwatching opportunities.
Surfrider Beach is world‑renowned for surfing and was designated a World Surfing Reserve, while the adjacent Adamson House and Malibu Pier add historical and recreational interest; parking and facilities are limited, lifeguards are seasonal, and water quality near the creek mouth can vary so many visitors swim or surf a bit farther from the lagoon.
