Nasketucket Bay State Reservation covers approximately 210 acres of rocky shoreline, open fields, and wooded trails in Mattapoisett, southeastern Massachusetts, managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Accessible via Route 6 to Brandt Island Road and Brandt Beach Road with free on-site parking, it features a circuitous main trail from the northeast lot south to the bay's scenic rocky beach, passing remnants of planned house lots cleared by developers before state acquisition.
This coastal preserve offers easy hiking on about five miles of paths through meadows, mixed forests of pine, oak, beech, birch, and holly, salt marshes, and vernal pools supporting birds, reptiles, amphibians, and shellfish-rich waters of Buzzards Bay, ideal for family walks, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, dog strolling, and wildlife viewing from dawn to dusk year-round.
