Art Museum
The National Museum of Wildlife Art, located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, was founded in 1987 by William and Joffa Kerr and a group of friends who donated their extensive wildlife art collection.
The museum, housed in a 51,000-square-foot building designed to blend with the natural landscape, overlooks the National Elk Refuge and is situated near Grand Teton National Park. It holds more than 5,000 artworks representing wild animals from around the world, spanning from 2,500 B.C.E. to contemporary pieces, including works by artists like Georgia O’Keeffe and Andy Warhol.
The museum features 14 distinct galleries, a sculpture trail designed by Walter Hood, an interactive children’s gallery, and educational programs serving over 3,000 children annually. It is a significant cultural institution celebrating both the artistic and ecological diversity of wildlife, attracting more than 65,000 visitors each year and recognized nationally as the official wildlife art museum of the United States.
