Art Museum
Philadelphia's Magic Gardens is a unique, vibrant art museum and outdoor sculpture garden located on South Street in Philadelphia.
Created by mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar, the space spans over 3,000 square feet and features intricate mosaics made from handmade tiles, bottles, bicycle wheels, mirrors, and international folk art. Zagar began developing the Magic Gardens in 1994 on vacant lots near his studio, spending fourteen years crafting multi-layered walls, tunnels, and grottos. In 2002, the lots were at risk of being sold and demolished, but with strong community support, the site was preserved, and the museum opened to the public in 2008.
Today, it is a nonprofit institution dedicated to inspiring creativity and community engagement through tours, educational programs, art workshops, performances, and exhibitions. Philadelphia's Magic Gardens is celebrated for its colorful, immersive environment and its role in the revitalization of Philadelphia’s South Street neighborhood.
