Museum
The Tucson Museum of Art in Arizona was founded in 1924 by members of the Tucson Women's Club and local citizens as the Tucson Fine Arts Association, initially functioning as a gallery and lecture space.
Over the years, it expanded exhibitions and programs, moving in 1927 to the Temple Gallery and later evolving into the Tucson Art Center by 1954. In 1975, it relocated to its current downtown location, encompassing an entire city block, including five historic properties on the National Register.
The museum is a non-collecting institution with around 12,000 artworks focused on Latin American art, the American West, Indigenous arts, and modern and contemporary pieces. It offers rotating exhibitions, educational programs, an interactive art studio, and community events, serving as a major cultural hub in Tucson committed to broadening public access to the arts.
