Arctic Valley Ski Area in Alaska, opened in 1949 and operated by the Anchorage Ski Club founded in 1937, is a non-profit ski resort located within 20 miles of Anchorage, in Chugach State Park.
Covering about 320 acres with slopes rising from 2,500 to nearly 4,000 feet, it provides a grassroots, affordable skiing experience favored by locals. The area features three chairlifts, a rope tow, and a tubing park which is the only public tubing park in southcentral Alaska.
Known for its community-driven operations with volunteers managing most activities, Arctic Valley also offers access to additional ski terrain in the surrounding Chugach mountains. It hosts various winter events and activities, providing a natural, family-friendly alternative to larger commercial resorts.
