Established in 1950 around remnants of an early 19th-century gristmill and the ghost town of Audra, it offers river swimming at a popular beach with deep pools and flat rocks, Alum Cave accessible by boardwalk, hiking trails through rhododendron thickets, picnicking, and a 6.6-mile kayaking run to the Tygart Valley River.
The year-round park features 67 wooded campsites (39 with electricity), modern bathhouses, a playground, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, coin laundry, and a campground store stocked with supplies.
