Park
Bastrop State Park is a roughly 7,000‑acre Texas state park located just east of the city of Bastrop in central Texas, about 30 miles southeast of Austin, set within the unique “Lost Pines” forest.
The park sits in a mix of loblolly pines, oaks, and small wetlands, providing a shady, wooded oasis in otherwise open Central Texas and supporting a wide variety of wildlife, especially birds and small mammals. Visitors enjoy hiking on several miles of shaded trails, swimming in a spring‑fed lap pool near the entrance, fishing, picnicking, camping in both RV and tent sites, and exploring historic CCC‑built stone structures, including a refectory and bathhouse, as well as a restored golf course.
The park is also a National Historic Landmark and a certified stop on the El Camino Real de los Tejas historic trail, making it a popular family‑friendly getaway for both recreation and history.
