Park
Caddo Lake State Park is a 484‑acre Texas state park located in the piney woods of Northeast Texas, on Big Cypress Bayou about four miles upstream from the much larger Caddo Lake, near the town of Karnack in Harrison County.
The park serves as a main gateway to Caddo Lake, which spans about 27,000 acres and is Texas’s largest natural lake, known for its maze of slow‑moving bayous, swamps, and cypress‑tupelo forests draped in Spanish moss. Visitors enjoy fishing, paddling in canoes and kayaks, boating, and wildlife watching for species such as alligators, paddlefish, wood ducks, and dozens of bird types along the waterways, plus camping, hiking on shaded trails, and access to a fishing pier and boat ramp.
The park also offers historic cabins, a visitor center, and connections to nearby Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge and the Caddo Lake Wildlife Management Area, making it a popular, scenic base for exploring the region’s wetland and swamp landscape.
