Park
Colorado Bend State Park is a 5,328‑acre Texas state park located in the Hill Country along the Colorado River, mostly in San Saba County west of the town of Bend and near the reservoir Lake Buchanan.
The park lies on the edge of the Edwards Plateau and preserves a rugged canyon landscape with springs, sinkholes, and more than 400 caves, typical of the region’s karst geology. Its main highlight is Gorman Falls, a 65‑foot travertine waterfall fed by Gorman Spring, reached by a moderate trail that also passes cool, spring‑fed pools and lush vegetation.
The park offers primitive and drive‑in camping, about 35 miles of hiking and mountain‑biking trails, fishing, paddling on the Colorado River, wildlife viewing, and guided cave tours, making it a popular but relatively wild destination for outdoor enthusiasts away from Texas’s major cities.
