Current River State Park, Missouri, United States

Park

Current River State Park is an 839‑acre Missouri park along the Current River north of Eminence in Shannon County, built on land that was once the Alton Box Board Company’s corporate retreat known as the Alton Club in the 1930s and 1940s.

The park features rustic historic buildings, several miles of hiking trails, two small lakes, picnic sites, and primitive restrooms, all set in the rugged Ozarks with easy access to the Current River for floating, fishing, and swimming. Today the area is managed as a peaceful day‑use park where visitors can explore the old‑time club grounds, enjoy light recreation, and learn about the site’s history through guided tours and interpretive displays.
