Edward "Ted" and Pat Jones-Confluence Point State Park in Missouri sits at the dramatic meeting point of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, offering 1,121 acres of restored floodplain forests, wetlands, and prairies that echo the landscape Lewis and Clark saw in 1804 when they launched their famous expedition from there.
Named for Edward "Ted" Jones, heir to Edward Jones Investments, and his wife Pat, who donated $2.2 million toward its development, the park opened in 2004 after conservation efforts turned a former farm into public land managed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
