Hot Spring
Monroe Hot Springs Resort, now known as Mystic Hot Springs, is a historic geothermal hot spring located in northeastern Monroe, Utah.
The springs, which flow at about 168°F, have been used for centuries by Native American tribes such as the Ute, Piute, and Shoshone, and later by pioneers traveling the Old Spanish Trail. In 1886, Thomas Cooper homesteaded the land and built the first bathhouse in 1905.
Over the years, the resort expanded to include a dance hall and guest cabins, becoming a popular social destination where people traveled from miles away to soak and enjoy live music. In the 1990s, artist Mike Ginsburg purchased the resort and transformed it by adding unique soaking pools made from antique bathtubs and restored pioneer cabins, creating a blend of rustic charm and artistic spirit.
Today, Mystic Hot Springs continues to offer a relaxed, communal atmosphere where visitors can experience healing mineral waters, music events, and a taste of Utah’s pioneer heritage.
