Park
Seven Islands State Birding Park, Tennessee's only dedicated birding park and its 56th state park opened in 2014, spans 416 acres along a scenic bend of the French Broad River in Knox County, about 19 miles east of Knoxville.
This former dairy farm features restored native grasslands, rolling hills with Smoky Mountain views, over eight miles of natural trails ideal for hiking and wildlife viewing, and habitats hosting more than 222 bird species like songbirds, hawks, waterfowl, Northern Bobwhite, and Barn Owls in preserved barns. Paddlers and anglers access the river via two canoe/kayak launches, while the site serves as an educational hub for habitat management and bird research.
