St. Croix State Park in Pine County, Minnesota, is the state's largest at over 33,000 acres, stretching 21 miles along the St. Croix River—a National Scenic Riverway—and including the final seven miles of the wild Kettle River.
Established in 1943 on lands developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration during the Great Depression, it features historic structures on the National Register, 127 miles of hiking trails through pine forests, oak savannas, meadows, marshes, and lakes, plus canoeing, fishing for bass and catfish, and abundant wildlife viewing.
Campers enjoy three family campgrounds with electric sites, remote group centers like Head of the Rapids, winter skiing and snowmobiling, and scenic drives to fire towers and river overlooks.
