Park
Stockton State Park in Missouri covers 2,176 acres on a peninsula between the Big Sac and Little Sac arms of the 25,000-acre Stockton Lake, located nine miles south of Stockton in Cedar County and created by a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dam on the Sac River in 1969.
Known for its clear waters and steady southwest breezes ideal for sailing, the park offers boating with two launches and marina rentals, swimming at a sandy beach, fishing for bass and crappie, scuba diving, over 17 miles of hiking and biking trails through oak-hickory forests and prairie hills, modern camping, cabins, picnic areas, playgrounds, and wildlife viewing.
Managed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources since 1969, it draws visitors for water sports, family outings, and scenic Ozark Plateau beauty near Springfield.
