Bridge
The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, opened in 2008, is a 3,000-foot cable-stayed footbridge spanning the Missouri River between Omaha, Nebraska, and Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Named after former Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey, who secured federal funding for its construction, the bridge features two 200-foot towers and a distinctive curved design that symbolizes the river below. It connects Omaha’s RiverFront to Council Bluffs' Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park, providing pedestrians and cyclists with scenic skyline views and a unique experience of standing simultaneously in two states at the midpoint.
The bridge plays a central role in revitalizing the riverfront areas and is popular for recreational use, tourism, and as part of the Great American Rail-Trail. Additionally, an expansion called "Baby Bob" opened in March 2025 to enhance access to downtown Omaha.
