Established in 1967, its 3,000-plus acres blend wilderness forests, shoreline timber, and glacial valleys supporting abundant wildlife like moose, black bears, wolves, loons, and over 200 bird species, plus summer wildflowers including orchids and blueberries.
Visitors enjoy a sandy beach for swimming, fishing for northern pike, crappie, sunfish, and perch from an accessible pier, boating, 13 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, skiing, and snowmobiling, rustic and electric campgrounds, picnic areas, and canoe rentals in this remote, peaceful retreat.
