Science Museum
The Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Texas, is a world-class science museum located in Victory Park that opened in 2012, though its roots trace back to the Dallas Museum of Natural History founded in 1936.
The museum was created from a merger of three institutions—the Dallas Museum of Natural History, The Science Place, and the Dallas Children’s Museum—and is named after philanthropist Ross Perot who significantly funded its establishment. Designed by architect Thom Mayne, the building is known for its modern glass-and-steel cube structure with a green roof and sustainable features such as rainwater collection.
Inside, the museum offers five floors of hands-on discovery, featuring 11 permanent exhibit halls that cover topics like dinosaurs, human biology, gems and minerals, engineering, earth sciences, and the universe. Interactive experiences include simulated earthquakes, a climbing wall shaped like the Dallas skyline for children, and a motion-based theater, making it a highly engaging educational facility for visitors of all ages. The museum also operates research collections and educational programs, emphasizing science literacy and innovation.
